BRISTOL, Tenn.
Sterling Marlin won Saturday night's Legends charity race, the 35-lap feature with NASCAR stars from years gone by, like Junior Johnson, L. D. Ottinger, and Cale Yarborough.
Despite worries about safety, considering the age of some of these men, the race went uneventful.
Andy Petree, Marlin's 'partner' in the tag-team format, won the opening 15-lapper that set the lineup for the feature.
"I hope we get to bring our own cars back for this next year," Marlin said.
David Pearson was on hand too, but back issues forced him to turn his car over to son Larry.
Also in the field, Terry Labonte, Jimmy Spencer and Rusty Wallace.
Johnson finished 11th: "I haven't been in a race car for 45 years, so I think I did pretty well," Johnson said.
