Stop closing pit road. We
Stop closing pit road.
We heard again during the telecast how good is was for NASCAR to mandate helmets for crewmen - they still refuse to get that the wave of pit accidents over the past 20 years stems from the rule that began in March 1989 where pit road is closed when the yellow comes out.
That rule led to the pit packing that has led to accidents galore over 20 years now, where before incidence of pit accidents was far less frequent.
NASCAR needs to stop closing pit road when the yellow comes out - then cars will pit in naturally staggered intervals and not crowd the pits as often as they do now.
verrry interesting
verrry interesting idea.....yes, i think it would work.....plus, a man who had gained a huge lead out on the track, will have that opportunity to keep it....on the other hand, a guy back in the pack, who just happens to be lucky when the yellow comes out and can get to pit road first will gain an unfair break.....but i agree it would likely make for a safer pit road. and nascar needs to crack down hard on pit road violations.
