   FONTANA, Calif.
The hottest crew chief in NASCAR?
A man you've probably never heard of.
   Drew Blickensderfer.
But he's helped Matt Kenseth win the year's first two races, in Daytona and Los Angeles.
Kenseth had to start back in the pack but quickly made his way up to the front…in part by good pit work.
"When you're running in the top-10, those cars are the hardest to pass," Blickensderfer says. "Thankfully, we've got one of the best pit crews on pit road, which catapulted us to the front every single time."
The track changed considerably as night fell and things cooled off. "The track was getting a lot faster… and when our pit crew got us out front, we ran extremely fast -- a second and a half faster than we had run all weekend," Blickensderfer said.
"We had to adjust our car a little bit when we were in clean air, to make sure we could run out front. Matt can drive it on the free side, so I just kept him free, and let him go after it."
Roush says Blickensderfer has been almost magic since taking the helm this season.
"Drew has brought magic to the team," Roush says.
"His dad was a coach, and he played competitive sports in high school, so he knows how to build a team, he knows how to capitalize on the energy within a team -- and we needed that.
"We had all the right people with the right skill-sets on the team. We just need somebody to create the magic. And Drew has done that.
"We had the same cars last year, and Matt is the same guy he was last year.
"So we'll credit what we've got going for us early here as the 'Drew Factor.'
"But with way Carl Edwards had won (nine times last season), and with the way Jamie McMurray has been running, and the way Greg Biffle has won, and the way David Ragan has been coming, certainly there is expectation on my part we are going to be factor in these races.
"I'm real optimistic about what's going to happen."
