NASCAR executives debating 2010 Truck tour schedule, and California may be dropped

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.
While NASCAR officials insist the Truck tour is, in their words "rock solid," that's tour's annual February Los Angeles tour stop at California's Auto Club Speedway may be dropped in 2010, according to Truck tour sources, because that is an expensive haul to the West Coast and crowds for that event have never been that great.
However Richmond International Raceway will likely be added to the 2010 Truck tour, according to sources, who say next year's tour may be cut from 25 events to 22 events.
The Truck series, after last weekend's stand-alone event at Memphis, is off for two weeks before returning to action at Kentucky Speedway July 18th.

Why not take them to Irwindale?
Trucks were born on the short tracks- lets return to our roots!
Could be the same weekend as Cup at Auto Club or a stand alone on a West Coast swing, with Vegas and Phoenix as ovals then go to The Point and Portland road courses.

I think a marketing campaign
I think a marketing campaign like 'back to basics' would be good. And do something with TV -- short tracks have smaller grandstands, so crowds wouldn't be so visibly an issue. getting 20,000 at 92,000-seat Fontana looks bad, but 20,000 at a smaller track would look great. but a consistent starting time has to be key....and heavy marketing....
