Jack Roush okay after 'hard landing' in his private plane while attending an air show in Wisconsin

   Jack Roush was hospitalized and listed in "serious but stable condition," apparently with minor cuts on his head, after a hard landing in his Hawker Beechcraft Premier business jet about 7:15 p.m. ET at a Wisconsin airport, where he was flying to attend a major air show.
   Brenda Strickland, a long-time business associate, was also on board and hospitalized with "non-life threatening injuries."
   The incident recalled a more serious crash Roush had in 2002, while piloting an experimental aircraft near Talladega, Ala. In that incident Roush wound up under water and was saved by rescue specialist Larry Hicks, who just happened to live near by the lake where Roush crashed.
   The Tuesday evening incident occurred as Roush's plane was coming in for a routine landing. Witnesses said it appeared to break off the landing to make another go around but a wing touched, and the plane broke.

  The air show is the Experimental Aircraft Association's annual AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wis. The association issued a brief statement:
   "At approximately 6:15 p.m. CDT on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, a Beechcraft Premier business jet registered to Roush Fenway Racing, LLC, was involved in a landing accident on Runway 18 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh.
   "The National Transportation Safety Board and Winnebago County Sheriff's Department has confirmed the two occupants on board were Jack Roush of Northville, Mich., and Brenda Strickland of Plymouth, Mich., who each exited the aircraft following the accident. Both were transported to local hospitals, with Roush in serious but stable condition and Strickland with non-life threatening injuries.
   "The NTSB is leading the investigation into the accident."
   Geoff Smith, head of Roush Fenway Racing, said Roush walked out of the plane after the crash but said surgery was possible. Dr. Kevin Wasco, the attending physician, says that Roush is in serious but stable condition. His injuries are not life threatening.
