Gibbs promotes Dave Rogers back to Cup, as Kyle Busch's new crew chief

   Kyle Busch will have a new Sprint Cup crew chief, veteran Dave Rogers, replacing Steve Addington beginning with the Texas 500 Nov. 8.
   Addington, crew chief for Joe Gibbs' 'third' team for five years now, will remain with the Toyota operation.
   Rogers, who started his NASCAR career as engineer for Gibbs' Tony Stewart-Greg Zipadelli team, was moved up briefly to Cup crew chief in 2005, has been Gibbs' top Nationwide team crew chief the past four seasons, winning the tour's 'owners' championship last season, working with four different drivers over the season. Rogers has five Nationwide wins this season.
   J.D. Gibbs, who runs the three-team operation for his father, said promoting Rogers back to a Cup position made sense, given his success in Nationwide racing.
   The Gibbs have been considering expanding to a four-team Cup operation, but the status of that move is still up in the air, dependent of course on sponsorship.
   "Dave has proven himself a talented crew chief, and we think he will work well with Kyle," J. D. Gibbs said.
   "We hope by making the move following this weekend's race at Talladega they can use the final three weeks of this season to begin working on communication and setups for the 2010 season."
   Busch  has been considered one of the top drivers on the NASCAR tour the past two seasons, and he's again doing both Cup and Nationwide, and is on the verge of winning the Nationwide title. However he failed to make the Cup championship chase this season, and last year's Cup title run ended early and abruptly with three straight issues, at Loudon, Dover and Kansas in the first three races of the chase, after Busch had dominated the regular season.
