   Remember Jeremy Mayfield?
No, he's not going gently into the night, that's for sure.
In fact the Associated Press is reporting that Mayfield, on suspension by NASCAR for allegedly failing a drug test earlier this season, has stepped it up a notch – by hiring noted criminal attorney Mark Geragos to handle the rollercoaster fight with NASCAR.
Geragos' record as an attorney is major league, to put it mildly. He is defending Chris Brown in the assault case with singer Rihanna; he has defended Winona Ryder, Michael Jackson and Scott Peterson, and a number of other high-profile figures.

And where does JM get the bucks to do something BIIIG like this?? Makes cha wonder, doesn't it?

I'm glad he's fighting hard. This policy that says "there's lots of drugs you can't take, but we're not going to tell you which ones" is full of hooey.
As for where he came up with money: some things are more important that money. As a driver chasing sponsors, Mayfield needs his reputation intact. Win or lose, his reputation has been tarnished enough that there are a lot sponsors who won't come near him. However, if he can clear his name, he'll have a fighting chance with some sponsors.
