On the NASCAR medical front, some good news, and not-so-good....

   ATLANTA
   It's been a rough few months on the medical front for some well-known NASCAR veterans.
   First, the good news: Jim Hunter, the legendary NASCAR executive, who has been the go-to man for the sport's bosses when commonsense solutions are needed, says his doctors report his cancer is in full remission.
    However car owner Richard Childress' wife Judy has been hospitalized in Winston-Salem's Baptist Hospital with vasculitis. She is expected to make a full recovery, but it may take some time. Two of Childress's NASCAR teams, with drivers Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer, went into Sunday's Atlanta 500 one-two in the Sprint Cup standings.
   And Bristol president Jeff Byrd is being treated for an undisclosed medical issue and will miss next week's Bristol 500, at the 160,000-seat track where he has orchestrated an amazing series of sellouts. Track spokesman Lori Worley said Byrd "recently went through a series of tests, and his doctors are encouraged that the condition is limited to one area and is treatable."
