So is it time for Chevrolet's Brent Dewar to weigh in on the NASCAR-Camaro situation?

The racing future of Chevrolet's new Camaro has been up for debate much of the summer, with General Motors holding the line that it didn't want that new model racing in NASCAR…even though Ford's Jack Roush plans to run the new Mustang on NASCAR's Nationwide tour.
GM's new boss of Chevy Global, Brent Dewar, will be at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend, and he will certainly be asked about the future – if any – of the new Camaro in NASCAR.
And what to make of the latest sales figures out of Detroit, that the new Camaro is outselling the new Mustang?
Last month Chevrolet sold 8,680 Camaros, while Ford sold 6,289 Mustangs.
And that looks like the third straight month the Camaro has outsold the Mustang.
Is any of that related to Chevrolet's current dominance on the NASCAR circuit? Or is it just coincidence?
And how will that weigh on the Camaro-NASCAR situation?

The 2010 Mustang has the
The 2010 Mustang has the carry-over V6 and V8 from 2009, while the 2011 Mustang will have both a new V6 and a 5.0 liter V8. So I'm not surprised that the Camaro currently outsells the Mustang:

Ford always seems to have a terrible history of doing this - get the model out with the same drive trains and then upgrade the following model year. But if I was a serious Mustang buyer, I would simply wait for the '11 model.

We just talked with Brent Dewar, the new Chevy boss, about all this....and we're writing that piece right now.
Now that we've got this note --

* 2011 Mustang GT to get 6-speed transmission and variable valve timing
* 2011 Mustang GT Track Pack to include Brembo brakes
* 2011 Mustang GT 5.0L V8, 6-speed, track pack, Brembo brakes ran even with 414-hp BMW M3, which is 200 lbs lighter, at GingerMan Raceway in South Haven, Michigan
