   Childress repeated his earlier statement that he took responsibility for his actions, that he let his emotions get the best of him, in attacking Busch after last Saturday's Truck race, but that he was disappointed that NASCAR officials had done nothing to deal with the Busch situation.
   And Childress said he would donate all the funds he has received from fans over the incident to the Childress-sponsored department at Winston-Salem's Baptist Hospital/Wake Forest Medical Center.
   Childress was fined $150,000 by NASCAR for attacking Busch after Saturday's Truck race and put on probation. In contrast Jimmy Spencer, a few years ago, was suspended by NASCAR for punching out Busch's older brother Kurt at Michigan.
   The contrasting penalties have provoked a backlash over what some perceive as NASCAR 'favoritism.'
   While Childress had said the Friday media session here would involve a "Q & A," moments  before the statement, his PR team said Childress would be taking no questions.
   "Here's the deal: I'm going to make one statement on this deal," Childress said.
   "I appreciate everyone's patience during the past week.
   "I guess the main thing is I take all the responsibility for my actions last week. I'm very passionate about this sport; I'm passionate about my race team, and my fans. And I let my emotions come out from my passion.
   "But that's behind us.
   "The next thing is the fine that was levied against me. I'm going to pay it personal.
   "I agree NASCAR should have done something with me.
   "I don't agree that they didn't handle the situation that happened on the cool-down lap (at Kansas, when Busch bumped Childress driver Joey Coulter).
   "We had a lot of fans to send in money to help with the fine. I will pay it personally. And all the money that is coming in we will donate to the Childress Pediatric Trauma unit; for this situation, maybe something good will come out of it.
   "Hopefully Kyle and myself will have learned something from it.
   "Thank you all very much…and later."
