Roger Penske is indeed big in the business….just pick a business he's in, and he's in big.
Well, his NASCAR franchise might be a little sluggish at the moment, depending on how well Kurt Busch and crew chief Pat Tryson are doing. But Kurt is sitting second in the Sprint Cup standings, just 10 points behind leader Jeff Burton, and his win at Atlanta was solid.
But when Penske says he's interested in buying Saturn from General Motors, don't blink, he just might do it.
Penske runs one of the biggest automotive empires around, with some 300 dealerships, selling just about everything on the market, an empire at one time valued at $17 billion.
And Penske hit a homerun when he bought up sole sales rights to the Smart car.
What might Penske do with Saturn? Good question. Does Penske really want to get into the car-building business? It would seem unlikely he'd just want to buy the dealership part of the company without some of the heavy metal too.
