    LAS VEGAS
TV coverage of NASCAR's Nationwide series may take a hit this weekend, with regional college basketball and other local sports conflicts leading a number of ABC affiliates to move the broadcast to a secondary channel.

ABC is set to cover Saturday's Nationwide race at Las Vegas Motor Speedeway, with the pre-race beginning at 2:30 pm ET and the race itself at 3 p.m.
ABC says "due to regional college basketball and other local conflicts, some ABC affiliates have arranged alternate viewing choices in their service areas, in most cases on digital-tier (DT) stations.
"The pre-race program will not air in two markets, and the stations in those markets will join the race in progress, but no markets will totally shut out the race telecast.
"NASCAR fans should contact their local ABC affiliates with any questions."
Here are the affected markets and stations and the stations' plans for NASCAR:
-- Des Moines, Iowa (WOI-TV) – due to Big 12 basketball game, pre-race show and race will air on the station's DT2 channel (RTV).
-- Rochester, NY (WHAM-TV) – due to coverage of a local telethon, pre-race show and race will air on the station's DT2 channel (CW).
-- Madison, WI (WKOW-TV) – due to coverage of WIAA state championships, pre-race show and race will air on DT2 (RTV).
-- LaCrosse, WI (WXOW-TV) -- due to coverage of WIAA state championships, pre-race show and race will air on DT2 (CW).
-- Wausau, WI (WAOW-TV) -- due to coverage of WIAA state championships, pre-race show and race will air on DT2 (CW).
-- Bowling Green, KY (WBKO-TV) – due to coverage of SEC basketball, pre-race show and race will air on WBKO-Fox DT2.
-- Columbia, SC (WOLO-TV) – due to coverage of ACC basketball, pre-race show and race will air on DT3.
-- Little Rock, AR (KATV-TV) -- due to coverage of SEC basketball, pre-race show and race will air on DT2.
-- Jonesboro, AR (KAIT-TV) -- due to coverage of SEC basketball, pre-race show and race will air on DT2.
-- Baltimore (WMAR-TV) – due to coverage of local lacrosse, pre-race show will air on DT2. Race will air on regular channel.
-- Louisville, KY (WHAS-TV) – due to coverage of Big East basketball, pre-race show will air on WBKI-TV. Race will air on regular channel.
-- Beckley-Oak Hill-Bluefield, WV (WOAY-TV) – due to coverage of West Virginia University basketball, pre-race show will be pre-empted. Race telecast will be joined in progress at 4 p.m. ET.
-- Beaumont, TX (KBMT-TV) – due to coverage of local basketball game and Big 12 game, pre-race show will be pre-empted and race will be joined in progress at 3 p.m. CT.

unfortunately,this is why dtv

unfortunately, this is why dtv was created.to give programmers places to put what they consider "unpopular"programming from their national network partner on a separate channel, then advise that network, that the programming was aired,so they get credit for running network advertising.i hopeW that syracuse,n.y. abc afilliate wsyr-tv will not follow the lead of their rochester sister station wham-tv.they are both owned by newport broadcasting.

I gotta feelin' the new

I gotta feelin' the new Phoenix track will look like Richmond or Iowa, except at those tracks the start/finish line are located within the tri-oval. Whereas the start/finish line at Phoenix is on the straightaway (backstretch) This track might provide the best racing around during Chase time. Everybody seem to love Richmond & Iowa racin'.

Oh, but check out Sunday!

Oh, but check out Sunday! ABC is straight pimp-slappin' NASCAR & FOX! ABC has the NBA Chicago Bulls vs Miami Heat @ 1pm & LA Lakers vs San Antonio @ 3:30pm. All East Coast time. They'll have the 4 #1 division teams playing each other. They'll going to command a big chunk of the TV market share between 1pm - 6pm.

No big deal to me. The

No big deal to me. The Nationwide Series is like a Cup scrimmage race each week. I don't care about watching Cup drivers compete in a series that is supposed to be for up-and-coming drivers. Instead, we get 10-15 Cup guys in the Nationwide race each week so they can make their wallets fatter with sponsers a regular Nationwide team could use. When NASCAR fixes it, I will worry about when these races come on. NASCAR took the first step this season to try to correct the problem, but then didn't finish the process. Right now, I don't even look at the schedule to see when the Nationwide races come on TV. NASCAR needs to use the truck series model of a few Cup drivers in the race rather than 10+. 15 years ago, I would have rather watched the Busch races than the Cup races. Back then, the short-track guys actually had a place they could hope to move up to to continue their careers. Today, all of the Cup drivers are ruining those opportunities.
